From A Jumper To A Skirt

"Oh, are you getting rid of this jumper?"
"Yeah, you can have it if you want it!"
"Really?" Thus began the cutting and sewing! One of my sister's had made this jumper many years ago, then she gave it to another sister who tried to make it work, but it was too big and she finally decided to get rid of it! I had noticed it once before and thought it would make a cute skirt, but I didn't think much more about it, but once I saw that it was being gotten rid of my idea came to me again and this is the result!

I cut off the top and took about four inches off each side, then shortened it to a few inches below the knee! I left the original zipper in because I've never liked putting in sippers and it would have been very hard to put in a different one! The Back:

As you can see it is grey with black stripes and fits in my wardrobe beautifully! (I don't know what pattern was used for this) One of the things that I really about it is that it looks retro!

From A Dress To A Skirt

This is what it looked like! (Sorry for the poor quality)

But that is what it looked like when I made it last summer! I got it out ready for spring, but the bodice was too small, so I made it into a skirt! The fabric is lightweight so it's perfect for summer!

A close up of the fabric!

Denim Skirt

My sister’s wedding was coming up fast, no hurry I thought, plenty of time to decide what to wear! The days got closer, but still I wasn't really that worried, but my Mom and sisters where! I have to say that it’s a good thing they where, otherwise I probably would have ended up wearing something from my closet and while I have nice clothing, nothing seemed suitable for the wedding! It was a casual wedding, so nothing fancy was called for, therefore a denim skirt and blouse where what was decided on. I had wanted a denim skirt, but I couldn't decide on a style! Soon we were getting down to the wire and a decision had to be made, one of my sisters had a denim skirt that while I liked it on her, I didn't think I would like it on me, however, I decided that it was the best option and soon I was sewing away! As soon as the skirt started coming together I started to like it more and more, then the first time I tried it on I was ecstatic, it was all that I had wanted and more, it was full, dark and wasn't a plain denim skirt! The finished product:

My sister did all the top stitching and I seriously couldn't have done it without her! The pleats:

I used this Simplicity pattern!
